To address this need, we are seeking an experienced and passionate First Generation Academic Mentor to join our team.
The First Generation Academic Mentor will play a vital role in supporting students who are navigating introductory and historically difficult subjects. This position requires a strong understanding of the challenges faced by first-generation students and the ability to provide tailored guidance and support to ensure their academic success. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with instructors, attend workshops and trainings, and maintain ongoing communication with the Director of Student Transitions to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have teaching or tutoring experience, preferably in higher education, and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with students from diverse backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, motivational and problem-solving capabilities, and a high degree of integrity and ethics are essential for success in this position.
