- Position: Lactation Technician – Part-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide breastfeeding support and counseling to mothers and infants in WIC clinics and local hospitals
- Conduct breastfeeding clinical instruction and counseling sessions with mothers and infants
- Monitor and evaluate breastfeeding mothers and infants to ensure effective breastfeeding practices
- Provide education on dietary and lifestyle changes that support the nutritional needs of nursing mothers and breastfeeding infants
- Maintain accurate records of breastfeeding support and counseling sessions
- Collaborate with Registered Dieticians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university
Experience:
- Two years of experience providing breastfeeding instructions to mothers and their infants in clinics or hospitals
Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
- Current certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners
- Copy of applicant’s current certification must accompany application
Preferred Qualifications:
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of current principles, techniques, and practices of breastfeeding counseling and lactation support
- Skill in breastfeeding clinical instruction and counseling
- Skill in interviewing techniques
- Ability to monitor and evaluate breastfeeding mothers and infants
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
