About the Role: Substitute Teacher in Hoboken
We're expanding our team and have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our network in Hoboken, NJ. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools.
- Adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles, ensuring a smooth learning experience for students.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff.
- Effectively manage classroom behavior and create a conducive learning environment.
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your dedicated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, develop your skills, and align with your preferences.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through free online training sessions, covering topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management.
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits.
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- NJ Substitute Credential.
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this).
- Full COVID-19 vaccination.
- A passion for education and putting students first.
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a related educational role.
- Special education experience or certification.
- Subject-specific expertise in areas like Math, Science, English, or Special Education.

- Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic educational environments.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
