Job Summary
We are looking for a talented and experienced Online Teaching Assistant to join our team of educators and support the delivery of our CIC program. As a TA, you will be responsible for providing individualized support to students, guiding them through course materials, and helping them develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the field of medical coding. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one mentoring to assigned students in the CIC course, guiding them through course materials and helping them achieve their learning objectives
- Observe and evaluate student performance, providing timely feedback on progress and helping students develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the field of medical coding
- Use AAPC's learning management system to access course materials, communicate with students, and track student progress
- Participate in live virtual classroom sessions, assisting faculty and providing support to students as needed
- Mentor students using a variety of teaching styles, providing interesting and engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered in the course
- Be available for student consultation through office hours or scheduled appointments, responding to student inquiries and providing support as needed
- Attend orientation sessions to become familiar with AAPC's policies and procedures, as well as the learning management system and virtual classroom platform
Essential Qualifications
- Current and valid certification in Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
- Prior teaching experience in corporate training, particularly with adult students, is desirable
- Prior experience teaching online is also desirable
- 2-3 years of production coding or auditing experience is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with teaching fully online or in hybrid format
- Strong knowledge of the relevant discipline, including medical coding and healthcare industry trends
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching adult learners and commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students
- Ability to use technology effectively in teaching, including learning management systems and virtual classroom platforms
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and colleagues
