What You'll Do
As an Intermediate Backend Engineer at Fulfil.io, you'll play a critical role in developing our Python-based ORM and applications that handle millions of transactions every hour. Your primary focus will be on building robust, scalable solutions that are easy to maintain and meet the needs of our merchants.
- Own the definition and implementation of API interfaces (REST and GraphQL) - we're proud of our 100% open API with over 600 endpoints
- Implement simple solutions to complex business logic that enable our merchants to manage financials, orders, and shipments across millions of transactions
- Build reusable components and packages for future use - contribute to our technical leadership and innovation
- Translate specs and user stories into reviewable, test-covered patches - ensure high-quality code and collaboration with the team
- Peer review code and refactor existing code - maintain our high standards of code quality and best practices
- Integrate with our eCommerce partners (Shopify, BigCommerce, Amazon), shipping partners (UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL), and EDI - expand our ecosystem and capabilities
- Manage Kubernetes and Docker-based global deployment of our infrastructure - ensure scalability, reliability, and performance
Job Requirements
We're looking for someone with a strong background in backend engineering, Python, and relevant technologies. If you have a passion for building scalable, maintainable software and collaborating with a talented team, we'd love to hear from you.
- 4+ years of experience working with ORMs like SQLAlchemy or Django - expertise in Python and relevant frameworks
- Experience with SQL and databases (Postgres preferred) - understand the importance of data modeling and database design
- Experience in developing large server-side applications and microservices - know how to design and implement scalable systems
- Ability to create high-quality code - follow best practices and coding standards
- Experience with Python testing tools (pytest) and test automation - ensure code quality and reliability
- Familiarity with code versioning tools like GIT - collaborate with the team and manage code changes
- Strong sense of ownership and leadership quality - take initiative and drive projects forward
- Experienced in the tools of our web stack, including Python, Celery, Postgres, Redis, and RabbitMQ - understand our technology ecosystem
Nice to Haves
- Prior experience at a growth-stage Internet/Software Company - understand the challenges and opportunities of rapid growth
- Experience with Google Cloud, Heroku, or other cloud platforms - know how to deploy and manage scalable infrastructure
