Summary Our vibrant and growing congregation seeks a part-time Youth Coordinator to support young people (infant – grade 12) within a community of all ages. This staff member will nurture spiritual growth among children and youth, foster relationships across generations, and encourage creativity as we explore Jesus’ teachings. This person will join us as we grow together in open-hearted, open-minded Christian faith. Responsibilities · Leads young people to encounter Christian life through stories, music, art, the natural environment, interactions with other churches, camp opportunities and volunteer activities. · Hosts a creative, interactive space for young people during weekly Wednesday Community Supper · Engages with young people during our weekly worship service · Supports our Sunday School leaders as they explore a new curriculum for children and ‘tweens · Innovates ways to provide support to teenagers as they grow in faith and friendship · Encourages young people to participate in ministries of hospitality, social justice and local outreach · Attends a weekly staff meeting with our pastor and office coordinator Desired Qualifications · Two years of post-secondary education or employment experience · Familiar with progressive Christian values (following Jesus in being open-hearted and open-minded) · Experienced in some form of faith-based leadership (youth ministry, outdoor ministry, Sunday school) · Enjoys learning, teaching, and building relationships with young people and across generations · Works effectively with adults (recognizes abilities, delegates, equips, appreciates) · Can find and adapt resources for use within a specific context · Communicates with clarity, warmth, flexibility, empathy · Demonstrates professionalism (manages details, prioritizes, maintains confidentiality, follows through) · Supports the congregation’s core values: nurture spiritual growth, invest in children and youth, commit to social justice and inclusivity, offer a space of belonging, balance tradition with innovation Employment Details · 15 hours/week (onsite: most Sunday mornings for 2-3 hours, most Wednesday evenings for 2-3 hours) · Salary: $20-21k · Paid vacation time: 2 weeks/year · Earned sick & safe time accrues · Reports directly to the Pastor · Participates in an annual review of job performance with the Personnel Committee About our Congregation St. Croix United Church is a small progressive Christian community in the St. Croix Valley.
