Veterinary Technician

Join the City of Los Angeles as a Veterinary Technician and play a vital role in providing medical care to animals in need. As a key member of our animal shelter and spay/neuter clinic teams, you will assist veterinarians in performing routine and subprofessional duties, administer emergency medical treatment, and provide compassionate care to injured animals.

Salary Range: $54,496 - $79,698 per year, with higher salaries possible for night work and certain assignments.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures
• Perform euthanasia-by-injection and immunizations under the direction of a licensed veterinarian
• Administer emergency medical treatment to injured animals
• Work collaboratively with shelter staff to provide exceptional animal care

Requirements:

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certificate issued by the State of California Veterinary Medical Board
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
