Job Title: Mainframe Applications Architect (Intermediate)

Role Overview
This role supports a large-scale financial systems modernization initiative. The architect will analyze, document, remediate, and upgrade legacy Mainframe FOCUS assets and related systems impacted by a statewide accounting system transition.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and document existing computing assets, technical specifications, and business rules
Debug and troubleshoot legacy processes, performing root cause analysis
Remediate and upgrade legacy applications and interfaces
Coordinate with business analysts, developers, product owners, and database administrators
Participate in code and design reviews
Perform knowledge transfer with technical staff
Convert Mainframe FOCUS queries to T-SQL queries
Transition flat-file-based programs to database table structures
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years of experience across multiple IT areas
2 3 years of architecture experience
Advanced expertise in Tibco Mainframe FOCUS and JCL
Experience with mainframe batch schedulers and job chaining
Strong experience with flat file structures and column-delimited text files
Experience creating and managing FOCUS master files
Experience with complex multi-source queries
Experience reading, editing, and creating JCL jobs
Experience scheduling and reviewing JCL jobs
Knowledge of SCRUM framework
Knowledge of financial systems or ERP platforms
Experience with Entity Relationship Diagrams
Experience documenting and communicating technical requirements
Ability to bridge technical and business stakeholders
