Job Overview and Responsibilities
As a Residential Counselor at St. Anne's, you will play a vital role in our residential program, providing supervision, guidance, and support to our residents as they navigate their daily routines and work towards their personal goals. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing individual and group supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents at all times.
- Assisting residents in developing and maintaining healthy habits, life skills, and positive relationships.
- Administering discipline and setting limits for behavior in a fair, consistent, and therapeutic manner.

- Ensuring the safety of residents during transportation to and from appointments as needed.

In addition to these primary responsibilities, you will also be expected to participate in mandatory trainings, in-service meetings, and Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives, as well as maintain regular attendance and a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
- Completion of 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology, along with at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth.
- Valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, with at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth.
- Valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating expertise as a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills, with at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience.
- Previous employment as a full-time staff member or volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
- Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver, or life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
In addition to these qualification requirements, you should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, a valid California Driver's License, and a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier. You should also be physically able to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR, and operate an agency motor vehicle.
