About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to join our Data Platform team and drive the development of our analytics experience. As a Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for leading the vision and strategy for our data analytics platform, working closely with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize product requirements, and driving the development of innovative solutions that meet the needs of our users. Your mission will be to simplify and accelerate data experiences at Netflix, providing top-tier experiences for our engineers, data scientists, and business users.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of client needs, product analysis, and industry trends to drive the product vision and strategy, maximizing business and client impact
- Partner closely with senior management and engineering teams to define and align with stakeholders on vision, strategy, and roadmaps
- Develop product roadmaps in collaboration with key product and engineering teams that execute on product vision and strategy and inform our engineering teams of what problems need to be solved
- Foster a metrics-driven culture that encourages quality experimentation and sets high standards for measuring product success
- Stay informed about industry advancements, influence their direction, and lead comprehensive build versus buy analysis to align with cutting-edge solutions, enabling ROI-based decisions
- Foster a collaborative environment with Netflix engineers, creating continuous feedback loops to ensure we solve the right problems and drive maximum impact for Netflix
- Demonstrate robust problem-solving and critical thinking skills, tackling technical and strategic challenges in creative ways and using data and intuition to make informed decisions despite uncertainty and complexity
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- 8+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager with at least 3+ years of domain expertise in data analytics platforms, data science experience, or ML platforms
- A proven track record of managing and growing a product portfolio or driving product vision and strategy
- A strong combination of technical depth and domain expertise with a customer-centric mindset
- Experience with at least one of the following technologies: Process engines (Flink, Trino), ETL Platforms, Notebooks, and BI Tools
- Ability to manage a portfolio of larger and smaller bets while balancing short-term goals and long-term vision
- Comfort with applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success
- Product intuition and judgment to solve problems and make decisions without perfect data
- Insatiable curiosity to learn new areas, stay up-to-date with industry developments, and continually ask 'why'
- Excellent communication skills; timely communication with clear expectations
