Job Overview
The Home Health and Palliative Care Director will be responsible for the administrative and clinical oversight of both departments, covering a large service area with an average daily census of 400 Home Health and 100 Hospice patients. This comprehensive role will involve leading a team of 133 FTEs, consisting of Registered Nurses, Social Workers, and other support staff, with 9 direct reports. The ideal candidate will have several years of progressive leadership experience in both Home Health and Hospice, with a proven track record of managing large caseloads and driving departmental growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Home Health and Palliative Care departments, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values
- Develop and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance patient care, staff engagement, and departmental efficiency
- Oversee the hiring, training, and development of staff, including performance management and talent acquisition
- Collaborate with other department leaders to ensure seamless integration of services and optimal patient outcomes
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices, applying this knowledge to inform departmental decisions and drive innovation
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Home Health and Hospice, with a strong track record of managing large caseloads and leading high-performing teams
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, with certification in Hospice and Palliative Care preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive departmental growth and improvement
