About This Job
As a Merchandise Product Manager at Tesla, you will be part of a fast-paced team responsible for the development, lifecycle, and launch of global vehicle accessories and products. This multifaceted role requires a broad understanding of product engineering, product development, supply chain management, e-commerce, and material preparation/distribution. You will collaborate with numerous internal stakeholders worldwide to ensure that top-tier lifestyle products are created and launched according to the global product roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Roadmap Management: Own and maintain a product roadmap for a variety of merchandise products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demands.
- Market Research and Analysis: Lead market research, customer feedback, and competitive analysis to build market and product requirements, documentation, and inform engineering efforts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various teams, including design, engineering, digital, legal, finance, supply chain, customer care, and operations to deliver a seamless product experience.
- Product Development: Collaborate with engineering teams to define, execute, and track product development activities, such as prototyping, design release, validation, tooling, and production ramp-up.
- Supply Chain Management: Work with supply chain teams to prospect, select, and negotiate with product and sub-product manufacturers that meet product goals, capacity, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Launch and Regulatory Management: Execute all launch and regulatory workstreams connected with launching and maintaining designed products on the Tesla Shop.
- Performance Metrics and Analysis: Define a set of metrics to measure customer satisfaction and product performance, and use these to inform and make future decisions around the lifecycle of the product portfolio.
- Process Improvements: Create and drive continuous design enhancements for the business' infrastructure, workstreams, and processes to maintain operational excellence.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree: In Science or an equivalent product-related/business degree.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in product management, product development, and delivering high-quality products with evidence of customer impact and exceptional ability.
- Multi-Tasking and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to execute multiple projects and tasks in parallel, across teams, in a short timeframe with the capacity to quickly pivot.
- Collaboration and Client Focus: Passionate about working with various organizations and partners to solve their specific challenges while putting client trust and experience first.
- Innovation and Problem-Solving: Proven history of converting learnings from customer insights into tangible product features that customers love.
- Analytical and Quantitative Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics for making assumptions and decisions.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Automotive or Technology Sector: Previous experience in the automotive or technology sector, particularly in product management or a related field.
- Familiarity with Tesla's Products and Mission: Knowledge of Tesla's products and mission, as well as experience with sustainable energy solutions.
