As a Certified Senior Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate coding for all services to maximize reimbursement and meet coding requirements from insurance carriers and regulatory agencies.
About the Role
We're looking for a seasoned Certified Senior Coder to review provider service records, ensuring accurate coding for all services, and act as a resource to providers for coding issues. Key Responsibilities
- Review provider service records to ensure accurate coding for all services, maximizing reimbursement and meeting coding requirements from insurance carriers and regulatory agencies (Medicare and Medicaid).
- Act as a resource to providers for coding issues, providing feedback, research, and answers to coding questions.
- Process and input billings accurately in the practice management system, including CPT codes, modifiers, units, fees, and ICD-10 codes.
- Work claim holds in an accurate and timely manner, supporting business office policies.
- Quickly locate Medicare billing rules and policies, comprehend how they relate, and apply coding when billing Medicare patients.
- Bill per standard processes, utilizing identified insurance guidelines and billing accordingly.
- Update new guidelines as identified and add to the H drive.
- Improve the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care.
- Participate in orientation and training of new employees.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
- Certification of advanced coding course.
- 2+ years of coding experience and/or experience working with medical billing and medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of setting up the insurance line.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work well with providers and other staff.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.
- Ability to navigate through different websites in a remote platform.
