About the Role: Substitute Teacher
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Colts Neck, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule, working with students of various ages and backgrounds. Our Substitute Teachers are the backbone of our organization, and we are committed to providing you with the tools, support, and resources you need to excel in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students in elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs of each classroom and student
- Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and school administrators, providing feedback and support as needed
- Collaborate with other educators to develop and implement curriculum, sharing best practices and expertise
- Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and technologies
Essential Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- A NJ Substitute Credential
- A background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices
