Description
OVERVIEW
Cadrex is searching for an Estimator III who will be responsible for evaluating quote requests and creating timely and accurate cost estimates for parts and assemblies. The successful candidate should be able to effectively collaborate with internal functional groups to drive rapid responses to customer RFQ requests. This role requires the individual to use their expertise to make decisions in minimally supervised situations while following all Company procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage large quote packages and necessary resources
- Provide oversight and guidance to Level I & II Estimators
- Perform cost analysis and account profitability reviews and provide feedback to management related to suggested actions
- Assist Sales and Customer Service in the management of key accounts
- Provide mentoring, oversight, and guidance to Level I & II Estimators
- Review and evaluate requests for quotes; prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, prints, part models, specifications, and related documents
- Work with the sales team and customers to thoroughly understand customer requirements
- Identify labor, material, finish, and time requirements by studying proposals, prints, specifications, and related documents
- Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, finish, and time requirements
- Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing relevant data
- Present prepared quotes by assembling and displaying numerical pricing and descriptive information
- Ensure that quality requirements, part prints, part models, specifications and other pertinent information is available and shared with necessary departments
- Assist procurement in obtaining pricing for materials, components, and subcontracted processes
- Maintain cost database by entering data
- Review and understand job costing; suggest changes
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years’ related experience and/or training in metal fabrication. May use equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- High level math and financial acumen with analytical mindset
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
- Experience with conceptual and detailed measurement/pricing
- Possess well-developed and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision, while managing multiple projects
- PC knowledge/computer literate; including the ability to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), e-mail, estimating software and use the Internet
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
