biBerk Business Insurance is a rapidly expanding company under Berkshire Hathaway, seeking an Underwriting Associate for their Commercial Underwriting Unit. The role involves evaluating risks for various insurance policies and participating in underwriting training and projects. Responsibilities Utilize company underwriting criteria to evaluate risks for various lines of business Perform independent verification of insured's operations Review and process change requests on in-force policies Evaluate in-force policies at renewal Participate in Underwriting Training for new products, directives, and processes Participate in projects as assigned Skills Bachelor's degree or associate degree with a strong score on the Wonderlic test, a cognitive abilities assessment used to measure the cognitive ability and problem-solving aptitude of prospective employees Strong investigative skills Ability to utilize the internet as a research tool Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast paced team environment Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Adaptability in a constantly changing environment, including changes to technology, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory conditions Prior experience in Underwriting a plus, but not required Benefits Medical (PPO/HDHP), vision, disability, and life insurance.
