About the position The Medical Biller position at the University of Miami is a full-time remote role responsible for compiling amounts owed to the medical facility and maintaining accurate records of orders, invoices, and payments. The role involves reviewing physician charges, ensuring all necessary patient and insurance information is accurate, and addressing any discrepancies in billing. This position plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the healthcare system, ensuring timely and accurate billing processes. Responsibilities • Compile amounts owed to the medical facility and maintain order, invoice, and payment records. • Review and release all physician charges from assigned work queues in a timely manner. • Review encounters for pertinent information including patient demographics, guarantor and insurance information, and managed care authorization requirements. • Run insurance eligibility checks and resolve registration issues. • Manually enter paper vouchers for missing charges. • Review and correct erroneous or rejected charges. • Distribute credits from patient payments as needed. • Assign charges to cases and phases. Requirements • High School diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in medical billing or a related field. • General knowledge of office procedures and operations. • Skill in data entry with minimal errors. • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. • Ability to understand and follow instructions accurately. • Attention to detail in completing assignments.
