Introduction to Talkspace and the Role

We are now seeking a highly motivated and passionate Youth Programs Intern, Teenspace to join our team in making a meaningful difference in the lives of teenagers.
About the Teenspace Program
The Teenspace program is our most ambitious mental health initiative dedicated to teenagers. In partnership with the NYC Department of Health, we provide free therapy to all teens (aged 13) in New York City. This program is designed to address the unique challenges adolescents face today, and we need someone who shares our passion for mental health and is eager to contribute to this groundbreaking initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development and Utilization: Work closely with our Senior Director of Youth Programs to enhance the NYC Teenspace utilization, ensuring more teens are aware of and register for the program.
- Presentation and Outreach: Co-facilitate in-person and virtual presentations to students, teens, and school staff, promoting the Teenspace program and its benefits.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with multiple teams to drive marketing efforts across social media channels and our network of schools, promoting the program and engaging with the target audience.
- Focus Groups and Info Sessions: Plan and hold focus groups and info sessions, workshopping with teens on various topics related to mental health, and gathering feedback to improve the program.
- Operational Support: Assist with outreach, mailing lists, and scheduling across teams, ensuring the smooth operation of the Teenspace program.
Internship Details
This internship is part of our 2024 Early Careers Program, designed to provide valuable professional experience, field-related exposure, and the opportunity to learn from collaborating with professionals. The details of the internship are as follows:
- Duration: June 3rd, 2024 - August 19th, 2024
- Projects: You will work on 2-3 projects, with one serving as your graduation presentation, allowing you to apply your skills and knowledge in real-world scenarios.
- Mentorship: You will be assigned a Talkspacer Mentor who will guide you throughout the 12 weeks, providing support and tracking your progress.
About You
We are looking for rising juniors and seniors in undergraduate degree programs or enrolled in graduate programs who are passionate about mental health and eager to learn. The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong Desire to Learn: A keen interest in learning and professional growth, with a drive to make a difference in the lives of teenagers.
- Commitment: Ability to commit to working 20 hours per week during the summer, with flexibility to adapt to the team's needs.
- Detail-Oriented: A meticulous approach to work, ensuring every document, project, or experience is on-point and on-brand.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen, articulate positions, advocate, and execute ideas effectively.
- Creative Problem-Solving: A creative thinker who enjoys solving problems and works well in a team setting, contributing to a collaborative and innovative environment.
Bonus Points
While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly valued:
- Google Suite and Excel/Google Sheets: Experience with Google Suite and a basic understanding of Excel/Google Sheets, facilitating efficient data management and analysis.
- Experience with High School Students or Teens: Previous experience working with high school students or teens, providing a deeper understanding of the target audience and their needs.
- Relevant Degree: A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field such as Licensed Clinician, Psychology, Public Health, Marketing, or Communications, demonstrating a strong foundation in the principles of mental health and program development.
- Research Interest: If at the Master's level, an interest in participating in a small research project on the efficacy of Teenspace, contributing to the advancement of mental health care for teenagers.
- Supervision for Seminar Training: If you are a student from a BSW/MSW program, we can provide supervision for seminar training in field instruction, supporting your professional development and licensure requirements.

Compensation and Benefits
We believe in pay transparency and offer competitive compensation. The hourly rate for this role will be $20/hr for those enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and up to $25/hr for those enrolled in a graduate degree program.
