We're hiring a VP of Regulatory Affairs for a PE-backed natural gas platform on a newly created senior regulatory hire. The business has deep roots in Texas gas infrastructure and is actively expanding into multiple new states to support large industrial and data centre customers. This is a genuine builder role; the first dedicated regulatory function at the company.
The role
You'll own the regulatory strategy as the business moves beyond Texas. That means navigating FERC certificate proceedings, evaluating interstate vs. intrastate approaches on a state-by-state basis, managing tariff compliance across a growing pipeline footprint, and advising executive leadership directly on regulatory risk and opportunity. There's no inherited team or playbook — you'll build it.
What we're looking for
• JD with substantive FERC natural gas pipeline experience — certificate applications, tariff compliance, rate cases, or multi-state regulatory strategy.
• In-house or regulatory practice background at an interstate pipeline operator, large gas utility, or FERC-focused law firm
• Comfortable operating as a sole function with senior visibility and outside counsel management
• RRC experience beneficial
• Dallas or Houston preferred; Austin or DC considered.
• $250–350K base | 30–50% bonus | Meaningful equity on a 3–5 year exit horizon
