Research and Policy InternshipAbout The Cadence Institute for Policy and Society
The Cadence Institute for Policy and Society is a research and leadership initiative advancing evidence-based public policy centered on communities of color, immigrant communities, LGBTQ communities, women, and working families. Building on the youth empowerment legacy of The Thinkubator, the Institute bridges rigorous scholarship with civic mobilization.
Over the past year, the Institute has produced policy briefs and research analyses examining:
• Women’s unemployment and labor force participation trends
• Wage growth and structural inequities in earnings
• Economic mobility and entrepreneurship gaps
• The evolving labor market, including informal and influencer economies
• Youth workforce development and public policy reform
The Institute’s model moves beyond research alone. We train and empower young leaders to identify emerging public policy challenges, conduct rigorous research, write for public audiences, and mobilize coalitions that drive meaningful civic and legislative impact in New York City and across the United States.
We believe research should not sit on shelves. It should shape policy, strengthen communities, and expand democratic participation.
