The Social Media Specialist will support the development and growth of a social media presence by creating and managing content that promotes awareness and engagement across key audiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with organizational goals and priorities
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram)
- Collaborate with staff to highlight programs, research, events, and success stories
- Ensure content reflects accessibility best practices (e.g., alt text, captioning, inclusive language)
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages as appropriate, and foster community engagement
- Stay current on social media trends, tools, and best practices, particularly related to accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain brand voice and consistency across both organizations
Skills
- Experience with social media accounts
- Strong storytelling skills
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices preferred
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Interest in or knowledge of disability inclusion, employment, or public policy is a plus
