Position Summary
As a Prescription Entry Technician - Specialty Mail, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Accurately interpreting and entering prescription orders into our system
- Updating patient demographic and clinical information
- Managing referral and prescriber data
- Calculating doses and day supply
- Assigning prescription directions
- Selecting and entering medical supplies
- Processing other relevant information for prescription orders
- Routing inquiries to pharmacists for completion
- Communicating with prescribers for clarification, generic substitutions, formulary changes, and prescription renewals
- Performing clerical functions such as indexing, sorting, and assigning incoming faxes
- Handling protected health information and confidential materials with discretion
Key Responsibilities
As a Prescription Entry Technician - Specialty Mail, you will be responsible for:
Prescription Processing
- Accurately enter prescription orders into our system, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Verify patient demographic and clinical information to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Calculate doses and day supply, and assign prescription directions as necessary
Communication and Collaboration

Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Verifiable high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Six months of work experience with Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and email applications
- Six months of computer keyboarding skills and aptitude
- Three months of experience in a pharmacy technician role
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in specialty pharmacy, long-term care pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or mail-order pharmacy
- Prior experience as an order entry technician
