Job Description:
• Support insurance verification and front desk administrative functions
• Verify patient insurance eligibility for visits and procedures prior to appointments
• Confirm in-network vs. out-of-network coverage
• Determine patient financial responsibility before check-in
• Identify insurance issues in advance to prevent denied or rejected claims
• Ensure accuracy of insurance data within the EHR system
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments based on office protocols
• Follow provider-specific scheduling rules for visit types and appointment slots
• Assist with patient communications related to scheduling and insurance questions
• Answer and route incoming phone calls using a VOIP system
• Provide professional and courteous phone support on behalf of the practice
• Perform general administrative tasks as needed
• Document and track tasks using Google Docs
Requirements:
• Prior experience in medical insurance verification
• Familiarity with medical billing concepts, eligibility checks, and patient responsibility
• Experience working with EHR systems, preferably Athena
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow office-specific workflows and protocols
• Reliable internet connection and professional work setup
• Experience supporting ophthalmology or specialty medical practices (preferred)
• Prior virtual assistant or remote healthcare support experience (preferred)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained (preferred)
