What You'll Do
As a key member of our data engineering team, you'll be responsible for leading the delivery of data and insights initiatives that support arenaflex's health analytics programs. Your work will directly impact our ability to measure, analyze, and improve healthcare quality metrics, ultimately helping us serve patients more effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data Initiatives: Direct the delivery of arenaflex Health data and insights drives and projects, ensuring timely and accurate data availability for business stakeholders.
- ETL and Data Warehousing: Support long-term and ad-hoc data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and data warehousing activities to meet arenaflex Health reporting and analysis requirements.
- Database Development: Design, develop, and deploy layered databases and data pipelines to support reporting and analysis projects across the organization.
- Data Modeling: Create data staging and preprocessing standards for populating logical and physical data models attached to report-specific working tables for both enterprise business intelligence and predefined reporting solutions.
- Data Integration: Apply data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal arenaflex production system sources and third-party files.
- Data Profiling and Analysis: Perform data profiling and data analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare datasets including member eligibility, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS files.
- Automation Development: Create internal tools for automation of all development-related activities including data processing, QA, data validation, and more.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, BI engineers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, data models, and data processes to ensure knowledge sharing and team efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of data deliverables.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a candidate with a strong technical background in data engineering and a passion for healthcare analytics. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with modern data platforms and a proven track record of delivering complex data solutions.
Essential Qualifications
- SQL Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts with optimal performance.
- Data Platform Experience: Experience designing and deploying logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- BI Platform Leadership: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting tool-agnostic semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, internal partners, clients, and vendor partners.
- Business Acumen: At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team management experience.
- Travel Capability: Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (both within state and out of state).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data Management Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification
- Experience with pharmacy, healthcare, and clinical analytics concepts
- Knowledge of HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) measures and ECDS (Electronic Clinical Data System) specifications
- Familiarity with healthcare claims data including medical claims, pharmacy claims, and member eligibility data
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture patterns
- Understanding of data governance best practices in healthcare settings
