Introduction The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Division of Medicaid Services (DMS) is recruiting for a Health Care and FoodShare Enrollment and Outreach Intern within the Bureau of Eligibility and Enrollment Policy (BEEP). This is a summer intern and will have flexible daytime hours Monday through Friday, expected to work between 30-40 hours per week. Please review the information regarding LTEs with the State of Wisconsin: • LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position and do not lead to permanent status. • Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions. • No more than 1039 hours may be worked in a 12-month year. This position has the ability to work remotely but may be required to report to an office location on occasion for onboarding and to complete certain tasks. This position can be headquartered at one of our central or regional offices . This schedule may vary based on training or operational need. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required. Position Summary The intern will be responsible for planning, identifying, analyzing, developing, and implementing research and recommendations that specifically focus on supporting member-facing eligibility and enrollment functions. Duties may include member and partner outre ach, engagement, and communication; user experience research; and systems and communications project workgroup participation. Salary Information The pay for the position is between $19.00 and $20.50 per hour depending on degree and year of study. Pay may be more for higher levels of education. An add-on of $.50 per hour may be paid for bilingual skills in Spanish or Hmong.* • Note: If applicable, the selected candidate will be required to complete a language assessment in order to receive the add-on pay described above. This position is classified as a Program & Policy Analyst and is in pay schedule and range 07/04. Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following: • Experience, education, or training with qualitative and quantitative research (e.g. planning, conducting, analyzing, etc.). • Experience, education, or training collaborating on workgroups or committees. • Verbal and written communication skills. Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following: • Experience or interest in promoting health equity. • Experience, education, or training coordinating outreach and member-facing program design activities. • Experience, education, or training interviewing or conducting field research. • Experience with or knowledge of Medicaid and FoodShare programs.
