Z10 Group is seeking a seasoned Fractional CFO to provide strategic financial leadership across a portfolio of operating companies in construction, logistics, facilities management, and professional services. This part-time, fully remote position is ideal for a finance executive who excels at bringing structure, clarity, and forward-looking insights to small and mid-sized organizations.
The Fractional CFO will work closely with ownership, general managers, and accounting personnel—both U.S.-based and offshore—to improve financial reporting, strengthen controls, and drive profitability. You will play a central role in forecasting cash flow, reviewing monthly performance, and guiding turnaround and growth initiatives.
Estimated commitment:
• 10–20 hours per week initially
• Potential to scale to 20–25 hours per week
• Schedule is flexible as long as deliverables and meeting cadences are met
Minimum Requirements
• U.S.-based candidates only
• Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Accounting, Economics); MBA or CPA preferred
• 10+ years of finance leadership experience, ideally including multi-entity oversight
• Experience supervising accountants, bookkeepers, or financial teams
• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial modeling
• Comfortable working as an independent contractor (1099)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance leaders
Compensation:
• $30–$60 per hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio-Level Financial Leadership
• Oversee financial operations for multiple companies within the Z10 Group portfolio
• Provide clear, strategic financial guidance to ownership and senior leadership
• Support turnaround efforts by identifying drivers of cash flow, margin erosion, and operational inefficiencies
Financial Reporting & Controls
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end close across all entities
• Review and validate financial statements prepared by accounting staff (U.S. and offshore)
• Strengthen internal controls, reporting processes, and documentation standards
• Align financial reporting across companies for consistency and comparability
Management of Accounting Staff
• Supervise and mentor U.S.-based and offshore accountants/bookkeepers
• Establish expectations, workflows, and review procedures
• Coordinate with the PMO to ensure tasks are completed on schedule
• Provide training and coaching to raise the overall level of financial discipline
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
• Build and maintain budgets, 13-week cash forecasts, and annual projections
• Perform variance analysis and create actionable recommendations
• Support operational and strategic decisions using clear, data-driven insights
• Build dashboards and reporting structures aligned with company KPIs
Advisory & Decision Support
• Answer financial questions from GMs, owners, and PMO leadership
• Provide guidance on capital allocation, cash preservation, and cost management
• Assist in evaluating new business opportunities, pricing, margin improvement, and risk management
