The University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry is a leading urban public research university seeking a Financial Aid Associate to provide guidance and assistance to students and parents in obtaining financial aid funding. The role involves processing financial aid applications, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supervising staff in the financial aid department.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for working with the Registrar’s Office and 2nd Review of Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) for official and unofficial withdrawals. This includes the timely return of Title IV funds to the appropriate Federal program. Specifically, on the processing of Federal Programs Pell, FSEOG & Direct Loans and the Return of Title IV Funds
- Responsible for processing Departmental payments and Agency Scholarship Payments and serve as Department contact to College Administrators regarding student departmental payments and resolving student concerns
- Following federal, state, and institutional policies create, update, and adjust aid based on analysis of eligibility and various edit reports and evaluation of the level and type of assistance that can be awarded
- Responsible for Reviewing Pell errors and monitoring Pell Lifetime Eligibility Usage
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures affecting financial aid programs and processes
- Responsible for planning, assigning, and reviewing work to staff ensuring group objectives are met
- Hire, train, develop and manage staff meeting area goal set by Director
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, humanities, social sciences, or a closely related field to the position
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience working in student services, financial aid/loans or a closely related field within higher education or a related agency
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in student financial aid or athletic department that demonstrates experience with a broad range of student aid or athletic programs
- Knowledge of, and compliance with, Federal and State aid, and experience with institutional aid and other rules that relate to this position
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Commitment to providing good customer service
- Education and experience should reflect the responsibilities for financial aid or athletic compliance administration in a large and highly complex environment of financial aid programs and services to a diverse student body
