The Finance Data Operations & Business Intelligence Analyst role focuses on supporting Finance planning and reporting through automation and data analytics, aiming to improve efficiency and decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify recurring, manual, or error-prone Finance processes and redesign them using automation-first thinking
- Build and maintain automated Excel based workflows (e.g., Power Query, structured templates, controlled macros where appropriate) to streamline data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reconciliation
- Develop reusable data transformation logic and standardized import templates that reduce month-over-month effort and variability
- Embed automated data quality checks, exception logic, and validation controls directly into workflows to strengthen accuracy and auditability
- Support SLC Finance GenAI / Copilot productivity initiatives, including: Identifying and implementing high value automation and augmentation use cases, Partnering with Finance and IT to test, document, and operationalize solutions, Contributing to enablement (e.g., onboarding support, sharing sessions, lunch & learns)
- Use Copilot and automation tools to accelerate documentation, learning, and process transitions, ensuring knowledge is captured and reusable
- Coordination of third-party data submissions, including receipt tracking, completeness checks, version control, and timely follow-up
- Transform, standardize, and reconcile incoming datasets using scalable, repeatable workflows to import templates (e.g., mapping, formatting)
- Execute and continuously improve automated validation routines (exception checks, variance analysis, tie outs to prior periods), ensuring issues are surfaced early and transparently
- Maintain and enhance runbooks, control checklists, and process documentation, emphasizing clarity, repeatability, and reduced reliance on manual intervention
- Refresh and maintain Finance and leadership reporting outputs, prioritizing automation of refresh cycles and standardized analytical views
- Maintain Power BI datasets and dashboards, including refresh reliability, visual consistency, and alignment to agreed metric definitions
- Investigate variances and ad‑hoc questions using structured, auditable analysis, supported by automated data pipelines where possible
Skills
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, Analytics, or related fields
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong comfort level completing high-accuracy work with large datasets in a self-directed fashion (e.g., PivotTables, data cleaning, reconciliation logic, structured tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS)
- A strong automation and control mindset—you enjoy eliminating manual steps while strengthening accuracy, documentation, and repeatability
- Comfortable working with various GenAI-based tools including Agents to develop automated workflows
- Ability to customize LLMs is a strong plus
- High attention to detail and comfort operating in a regulated Finance environment with defined controls and deadlines
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills within a recurring monthly cadence
- Self-directed and driven individual, with a mindset for continuous improvement
- Clear communication skills to partner with Finance stakeholders and data providers
- Experience with Power BI and data automation concepts; enthusiasm to continue growing in analytics, BI, and intelligent automation
