About the Role: Principal Engineer - Database Engineering - Product Development
As a Principal Engineer in Database Engineering, you'll be responsible for building and running large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant database services. You'll set the strategy and direction for database platform services, driving adoption across the Tech organization. With your expertise in system design, you'll build new systems from the ground up, develop and operationalize designs, and translate product vision into technical strategy. Your experience in writing efficient and fault-tolerant code will be essential in this role, as well as your proficiency in languages such as GoLang, Python, or Java.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set the strategy and direction for database platform services, driving adoption across the Tech organization
- Design and build large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant database services
- Develop and operationalize system designs, translating product vision into technical strategy
- Write efficient and fault-tolerant code, with a focus on high-performance and scalability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical direction and strategy
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve our database engineering capabilities
Essential Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- 12+ years of experience in technology development or services
- 4+ years of experience in strategic planning and setting technical direction
- A strong understanding of high-performance, large-scale system architecture, design, and implementation
- Extensive experience in system design and building new systems
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: GoLang, Python, Java
- A proven track record of writing efficient and fault-tolerant code
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience with Hybrid Cloud and distributed systems
- Knowledge of database management systems, including relational and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
