Job Summary
The Instructional Assistant position is a multifaceted role that requires a unique blend of instructional support, student guidance, and administrative assistance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute instructional materials according to teacher direction, ensuring that all students have the resources they need to succeed.

- Assist students in staying focused and avoiding distractions, creating a conducive learning environment that promotes engagement and productivity.
- Escort students to and from classes, activities, and transportation buses, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Provide one-on-one or small group activities under the teacher’s direction, tailoring support to meet the diverse needs of our students.
- Provide support in monitoring, intervening, and redirecting student behaviors, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior and social skills.
- Supervise students in social situations in the cafeteria and playground environment, fostering a sense of community and respect among peers.
- Maintain documentation and records for student files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all administrative tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to the changing needs of our educational setting.
Knowledge and Skills

- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, and PUSD policies and procedures.
- Skill in following oral and written directions, with the ability to interpret and implement instructions accurately.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district.
- Skill in operating a personal computer, with proficiency in using software applications and technology to support instructional and administrative tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following minimum qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- The equivalent of two years of college or a passing score on a state-approved competency examination.
Other Requirements
In addition to the minimum qualifications, you will need to:
- Pass a fingerprint and background clearance check, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
- Obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license, with the ability to travel to perform work functions as required.
- Lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds, demonstrating physical ability and stamina.
- Work outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, to support school events and activities.
