Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced RN Professor to lead our nursing programs, including Traditional BSN, RN-BSN, MSN Master's Entry to Nursing Practice (MENP), and MSN Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL). As a full-time faculty member, you will have the opportunity to teach across multiple programs, using various delivery modalities, including hybrid and online courses. Our faculty enjoy a flexible schedule, with no summer classes for Traditional BSN and optional summer teaching for MSN programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom and clinical instruction to students in Sentara's health science programs
- Develop and implement interactive and innovative teaching-learning strategies in both on-ground and online courses
- Support the development of faculty in both classroom and clinical settings
- Offer student tutoring, advising, and support as needed
- Participate in department and college committees as assigned
- Collaborate with the community to support and facilitate research, and keep current in evidence-based research related to teaching and clinical instruction
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's level degree in nursing, nursing education, or education
- Active Registered Nurse license in one of the following states: Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, or Other/National
- 5 years of recent acute care experience
- 3 years of teaching experience in a BSN or allied health program
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and instructing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in nursing or education
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation
- Familiarity with D2L (Brightspace) and lecture capture tools
