Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer (L5) - Product (Device), your key responsibilities will include:

• Helping Netflix support and evolve the device data model by improving data excellence and quality, supporting analytics, developing and maintaining metrics, and partnering with engineering to deliver the next generation of Netflix experiences.
• Engineering efficient, adaptable, and scalable data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data.
• Partnering with numerous engineering teams, analytics engineers, and data scientists to enhance playback-related datasets.
• Maintaining and rethinking existing pipelines to improve scalability and maintainability.
• Taking ownership of the operational excellence in your domain, with a focus on automation, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements, and to design and implement solutions that meet those requirements.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A strong background in at least one of the following: distributed data processing or software engineering of data services.
• Mastery over at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Scala, Python) and comfort working with SQL.
• Familiarity with big data technologies like Spark and Flink, and comfort working with web-scale datasets.
• A solid understanding of the device lifecycle and an eye for detail, with good data intuition and a passion for data quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A passion for continuously improving how we handle streaming data at Netflix, and a willingness to take intelligent risks in a rapidly changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP.
