Position Overview – Evening Specimen Processor – Data Entry (Part‑Time, 3rd Shift) We are seeking a meticulous, detail‑oriented Evening Specimen Processor – Data Entry to support our high‑volume laboratory operations on the third shift (overnight). This part‑time role (approximately 25 hours per week) is critical to ensuring that every laboratory specimen is accurately received, logged, and routed for testing—ultimately contributing to the delivery of life‑saving diagnostic results. Key Responsibilities Receive, verify, and label incoming specimens in accordance with arenaxflex’s rigorous standard operating procedures. Enter laboratory test orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with a high degree of accuracy, utilizing both keyboard and 10‑key entry. Perform double‑checks on test orders, identify discrepancies, and initiate corrective actions when necessary. Maintain strict adherence to biosafety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of biological hazards. Champion safety, compliance, and quality control by reporting any deviations or potential risks to the shift supervisor. Document all activities in accordance with federal, state, and arenaxflex privacy regulations, ensuring the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI). Collaborate seamlessly with laboratory technologists, phlebotomists, and administrative staff to streamline workflow and reduce turnaround times. Participate in periodic audits and continuous‑improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing specimen processing efficiency. Provide exceptional behind‑the‑scenes support to patients, contributing to their care journey without direct face‑to‑face interaction. Essential Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in medical terminology or health sciences is a plus. Exceptional reading, writing, and analytical abilities, enabling accurate interpretation of test orders and specimen labels. Proven typing proficiency with a minimum speed of 60 words per minute, including comfortable 10‑key operation. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively during overnight shifts. Preferred Experience & Skills Two or more years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, specifically in specimen collection, accessioning, or processing. Prior data entry experience within a regulated healthcare or production environment. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) such as PowerPath, Cerner, or Epic Beaker. Understanding of biosafety level requirements and the ability to correctly use PPE (gloves, gowns, eye protection, etc.). Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for safeguarding PHI.
