About the position
This job assists the hospital in the care of patients and performs special technical skills/treatments according to level of knowledge under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities
• Provides direct patient care, within the scope of their license, with supervision from the physician.
• Medical treatment of wounds at the basic/intermediate/advanced level.
• Administers medications by pre-established protocol which includes vasoactive medications.
• Draws bloodwork, places splints/boots, performs Foley insertion, and uses glucometer.
• Administers IV fluid administration and vital signs monitoring.
• Documents patient related tasks accurately.
• Supports physicians, nursing, and hospital administration by acceptance of established objectives, policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with EMTALA regulations.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
• Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an approved Paramedic Program.
• Paramedic License in the State of Practice.
• Certified with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a Paramedic.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
