Essential Functions:
• Manages clinical and support staff.
• Must work closely with the staff dentist and other employees to help everyone perform their duties effectively.
• Coordinate the day-to-day execution of the office practices that increase productivity and efficiency.
• Respond to clinical and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Deliver direct individual and team leadership to ensure all office employees produce outstanding client service.
• Floats onto the clinical floor as needed to support clinical functions.
• In collaboration with the Dental Services Director, the position assists in maintaining the dental clinic’s budget and accounting systems.
• Oversee staff work schedules and time using the tracking system.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide staff development and training.
• In collaboration with the Dental Services Director, the position assists in developing new dental policies and procedures, ensuring that the dental staff understand and adhere to the policies and procedures.
• Manages the clinic’s quality assurance and infection control programs, ensuring the dental clinic’s readiness for regulatory visits or surveys.
• Provides additional oversight to the protocols for maintenance of all clinical equipment, and for determining the dental protocols that are used in the clinic.
• Maintain inventory of Dental Department equipment and supplies and the ordering.
• Coordinate lab services, linkages, and agreements with outside agencies.
• Independently completes specially assigned projects such as researching the outside referral sources for departmental programs.
• Update a variety of database files and forms for the dental department.
• Acts as point person for dental coding and billing auditing, and liaison between Dental Department and Patient Financial Services and external RCM vendor. Troubleshoots dental billing issues with Dental staff, PFS, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinates and oversees dental student externs/interns’ schedules, and communicates with HR and compliance regarding incoming and outgoing externs. Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with extern coordinators and schools.
• Coordinate special patient events and outreach activities.
• Responds to requests and phone calls from vendors, and SNAHC clinical staff, etc.
• Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, OSHA etc.
• Actively participates in and guides internal quality improvement teams. Works with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Four years of experience in dental clinic management and supervision of ancillary dental staff, including Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants.
• Completion of a dental assistant program from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of community-based dental services.
• Thorough understanding of dental front office operations, including reception/registration, scheduling, determination of eligibility, prior authorizations, and collection of co-pays/outstanding patient balances.
• Knowledge of dental supplies, equipment, and services.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards for the delivery of dental care.
• Proficiency in the use of computers with a Windows-based operating environment.
• Proficiency in the use of NextGen or other electronic dental records system.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Registered Dental Assistant or RDAEF2 strongly preferred.
• Experience in a community dental clinic setting.
• Experience with NextGen or other electronic dental record system.
