Job Title: Taft-Hartley Defined Benefit Plan Claims Processor

About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Defined Benefit Plan Claims Processor to support Taft-Hartley (multiemployer) pension funds. This individual will serve as the primary day-to-day contact for plan participants. The role involves processing retirement applications, ensuring compliance with plan provisions and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate participant records.
Key Responsibilities
Participant Services & Retirement Processing
• Serve as the main point of contact for participants regarding pension inquiries.
• Review and process retirement, disability, and survivor benefit applications in accordance with plan rules.
• Verify eligibility, calculate benefits, and prepare correspondence.
• Guide participants through application requirements and payment options with exceptional customer service.
Plan Administration & Recordkeeping
• Maintain and update participant records.
• Coordinate with employers as needed to reconcile contribution data and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), beneficiary updates, and status changes.
Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
• Support annual actuarial valuations, audits, and government filings (e.g., Form 5500).
• Assist with internal controls and plan governance documentation.
Qualifications
Required:
• 5+ years of experience administering Defined Benefit pension plans; Taft-Hartley or multi-employer plan experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of ERISA, pension regulations, and plan document interpretation.
• Proficiency with pension administration systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
Preferred:
• Experience with union trust funds or benefits administration firms.
• Designations such as CEBS, ASPPA, or related credentials (or willingness to pursue).
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills; ability to calculate complex benefit formulas.

Base Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
