Position: Board Treasurer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Board Treasurer to join our team and help us achieve our financial goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, as well as a passion for conservation and protecting our planet's wildlife. As the Board Treasurer, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization's financial operations, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the organization's financial resources and provide regular reports to the Board of Directors
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective use of funds
- Oversee budget planning and monitor financial performance to ensure the organization's financial stability
- Work closely with the Executive Director and other members of the leadership team to develop and implement fundraising strategies
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including tax laws and charitable solicitation requirements
- Serve as the primary liaison with the organization's external auditors and oversee the annual financial audit
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the Board of Directors to support decision-making
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term financial plans and goals
- Attend and participate in Board meetings, providing financial updates and recommendations as needed
- Oversee the organization's investment portfolio and make recommendations for investment strategies
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, vendors, and other external partners
- Mentor and supervise finance staff, providing guidance and support as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices
- Experience with budget planning and financial forecasting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience working with external auditors and managing financial audits
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Passion for conservation and protecting wildlife
Working Conditions:
This is a volunteer position which will work primarily remotely but may be required to travel occasionally for meetings and events.
