About Living the Dream University
Living the Dream University (LTDU) is a nonprofit, private online university based in Tennessee, dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our mission is to provide accessible, inclusive, and personalized learning that enables students to achieve their academic, personal, and career goals.
We plan to launch in August 2027 with four fully online associate degree programs emphasizing real-world skills, independence, and self-expression. Classes are intentionally small (10 students or fewer) to ensure individual attention and strong support for every learner.
Position Overview
LTDU is seeking passionate and dedicated Adjunct Professors to join our online teaching pool for the August 2027 launch. Adjuncts will teach 1–3 small online courses per term (10 students or fewer) to adult learners with IDD, using inclusive teaching methods, OpenStax zero-cost textbooks, and Moodle as the learning platform.
Faculty will work closely with advisors and instructional staff to provide personalized guidance and accommodations for students. All courses are fully remote.
Compensation
$850 per credit hour (paid per course section taught)
Areas of Instruction
We are building our adjunct pool for the following disciplines:
• Psychology
• Business and Entrepreneurship
• Photography and Digital Media
• General Education (English, Math, Communication, Humanities)
Courses available:
African American Literature – 3 credits
Latin American Literature - 3 credits
Information Literacy / Introduction to Computers – 3 credits
Survey of United States History I – 3 credits
World History I – 3 credits
College Algebra - 3 credits
Statistics – 3 credits
Responsibilities
• Teach 1–3 small courses per term (10 students or fewer) for adults with IDD
• Deliver engaging, accessible, and inclusive instruction online using Moodle
• Provide personalized support, feedback, and mentorship to each student
• Collaborate with instructional designers and program chairs to maintain course quality
• Use OpenStax and other approved open educational resources
• Uphold LTDU’s mission of empowering adults with IDD
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• PhD, JD, or other doctoral degree in the teaching discipline, or doctoral degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the field
• For technical or applied courses (e.g., Photography, Business): Bachelor’s degree plus professional experience may qualify
• Demonstrated ability to teach or mentor adult learners online
• Strong communication, organization, and technology skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching students with intellectual or developmental disabilities
• Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive pedagogy
• Experience using Moodle LMS or other online platforms
