Title: Social Media Manager and Medical Content Writer (Nephrology, Substack, Blog)
Description:
I am a practicing nephrologist seeking a skilled social media manager and medical content writer to help build a credible, high-quality professional presence across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Substack, and a professional blog. The focus is thought leadership in kidney disease, dialysis, glomerular disorders, and renal innovation. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who understands medical nuance and can translate complex clinical topics into clear, engaging content for physicians, healthcare professionals, and informed patients.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage a content calendar aligned with clinical, academic, and industry goals
• Write 2–4 short-form posts weekly for LinkedIn and X (threads, short insights, and commentary)
• Draft 1–2 longer-form articles per month for Substack and blog platforms
• Translate clinical cases (de-identified), new trials, and guidelines into high-impact educational content
• Assist with conference summaries, medical commentary, and emerging renal therapies
• Maintain a professional, evidence-based tone that balances academic rigor with accessibility
• Optimize content for engagement, growth, and thought leadership while preserving credibility
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, patient privacy, and professional standards
• Repurpose long-form content into short-form posts and threads
Ideal Candidate:
• Experience writing healthcare, medical, or scientific content
• Strong understanding of medical terminology; nephrology knowledge preferred
• Background in medicine, life sciences, medical writing, or healthcare marketing
• Ability to simplify complex clinical concepts while preserving accuracy
• Familiarity with clinical trials, guidelines, and evidence-based medicine
• Experience with newsletter or blog writing (Substack or similar platforms)
• Comfortable adapting to a physician’s voice and evolving professional brand
• Organized, responsive, and able to meet deadlines
Preferred but Not Required:
• Experience working with specialists, academic physicians, or industry
• Familiarity with KDIGO guidelines, dialysis, CKD, or glomerular disease
• Experience with visual content, infographics, or medical storytelling
• SEO and newsletter growth strategy
• Analytics and audience development
Workflow:
Each week, I will provide topics, clinical insights, or voice notes. You will draft content for review and revision. Long-form articles will be developed collaboratively. This role is expected to be ongoing with potential for expansion.
Please Include in Your Application:
• Portfolio or examples of healthcare or medical writing (including long-form work if available)
• One sample short thread (4–6 posts) on a medical topic
• One sample long-form article outline
• Your experience working with clinicians or healthcare organizations
• Estimated monthly rate and availability
This role prioritizes accuracy, credibility, and long-term professional growth over volume. I am looking for a collaborative partner interested in building a respected voice in nephrology and renal innovation.
Budget: Open based on experience.
