Apply Job Type Full-time Description Artist – Storyboarding, Concept Art & Illustration COTALAND Theme Park – Austin, TX Reports to: Vice President of Entertainment About the Role COTALAND is seeking a highly creative and versatile Artist to join our Entertainment team in Austin, Texas. This on-site position plays a key role in the visual development of projects ranging from live entertainment and themed attractions to character design and park-wide creative initiatives. The Artist is responsible for taking ideas from early sketches and storyboards through detailed concept art, branding, theme park creative logo design, graphic design, and polished, high-resolution renderings that bring our creative vision to life. This is a fast-paced role that requires balancing multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with entertainment leadership, and delivering professional-level artwork that aligns with brand standards. Requirements What You’ll Do • Create storyboards that clearly communicate show concepts, guest experiences, and attraction narratives. • Develop 2D illustrations and concept art for characters, environments, sets, parades, signage, retail, food and beverage, marketing and themed experiences. • Produce high-quality, full-color renderings to support presentations, approvals, and project development. • Design logos, including theme park creative logo design, graphics, and visual identities for attractions, shows, and park branding initiatives. • Contribute as a theming artist by designing scenic treatments, environmental details, and decorative elements that enhance storytelling. • Collaborate with the VP of Entertainment, creative partners, and production teams to interpret project needs visually. • Translate creative direction into artwork that inspires and guides fabrication, construction, and production. • Adapt style and detail level depending on project stage—from quick ideation sketches to photo-real renderings. • Works creatively under deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously. • Participate in brainstorming sessions, presentations, and production meetings. • Uphold COTALAND’s creative vision and brand identity as a visual storyteller. What It Takes to Succeed • Professional experience in storyboarding, concept art, theming, and illustration. • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of styles, from loose sketches to detailed renderings, logos, and graphic design. • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) and other digital art tools. • Strong drawing and painting skills (digital and/or traditional). • Ability to convey storytelling and emotion visually in both character and environmental art. • Experience in theme park creative logo design, branding, and graphic design for entertainment or themed environments. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Highly organized and able to handle multiple fast-paced projects. • Bachelor’s degree in Illustration, Animation, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or related field preferred. • Prior themed entertainment, animation, or film experience strongly valued. • Must be able to work on-site in Austin, TX.
