Key Responsibilities: Making a Difference in Special Education Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality education for students with special needs. Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, adapting to the unique requirements of special education students. Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable insights to inform instruction and support student growth. Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters social, emotional, and academic development. Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting a collaborative and student-centered approach to education. Essential and Preferred Qualifications: What We're Looking For To succeed as a Special Education Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need: An active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s). Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if your license is expired). Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor. Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (required for Substitute Authorization). We prefer candidates with: Experience working with students with diverse special needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive needs. Knowledge of individualized educational plans (IEPs), functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans. Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, staff, and students.
