About the Role As a Special Education Job Coach, you will play a vital role in arranging and supporting student employment in the community, fostering job development skills, and building partnerships with local businesses. This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while making a tangible impact on the lives of students with disabilities. Key Responsibilities Develop, identify, and analyze jobs and adapt job stations for students in supported employment positions, ensuring a tailored approach to meet individual needs. Identify and solve potential problems for students, employers, or co-workers in supported employment positions, demonstrating expertise in conflict resolution and creative problem-solving. Document student progress on a regular basis, maintaining written records regarding student job performance and providing actionable insights for improvement. Assist and train students to obtain and use various forms of transportation to and from their job, promoting independence and self-sufficiency. Collaborate with teachers to match students to appropriate jobs, leveraging your understanding of their strengths, needs, and interests. Develop job leads and opportunities through community outreach and partnership-building, expanding the scope of employment possibilities for students. Serve as an advocate for students with disabilities, providing support and guidance to address any issues that may arise between students and employers. Provide behavioral intervention for students as necessary, utilizing your knowledge of evidence-based practices and strategies. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, community agencies, and employers, ensuring seamless collaboration and information exchange. Represent Workwarp in a professional manner, upholding the organization's values and mission through your interactions and work. Essential Qualifications To excel in this role, you will need: A High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by 48 college hours or formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). A valid Texas educational aide certificate, demonstrating your expertise in supporting students with diverse needs. Knowledge of CPR and basic first aid techniques, ensuring your ability to respond to emergencies and provide a safe environment. A valid Texas driver's license with a driving record that meets Workwarp's requirements, facilitating your ability to travel to community locations. The ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination, confirming your fitness for the demands of the role. Preferred Qualifications and Skills In addition to the essential qualifications, we highly value: One or more years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, with a preference for three or more years of experience in job training and development. A deep understanding of the job market as it relates to students with disabilities, as well as specialized knowledge pertaining to job training and development. The ability to interact with and relate to children, exercising judgment in handling student disciplinary problems and assessing student skill levels. Personal transportation and the ability to use it on the job, without transporting students, and flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or summer hours. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
