Commonwealth of PA is seeking an Engineering Technician for the Department of Transportation, District 3. This role includes a comprehensive 12-month training program to equip candidates with essential skills in engineering disciplines such as design, construction, and maintenance. Responsibilities Provide engineering support to different units within PennDOT Participate in a structured training program that includes rotational assignments across various engineering districts Engage in technical drafting tasks, which will involve producing highway plans derived from field survey data Designing minor highway projects from the initial engineering phase through to the final plan Completing minor design assignments under the supervision of a civil engineer, highway designer, or highway drafter designer Utilize Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the execution of responsibilities Skills An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree You must meet the PA residency requirement You must be able to perform essential job functions A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports Benefits Health coverage, vision, dental, and wellness programs.
