DevOps Technician

The DevOps Technician role at Aquent is a position in the Technology & Innovation group, focused on creating and enhancing web applications to support and provide online features and applications to the internal staffing business, our job seekers, and our clients. The DevOps Technician is part of a larger cross-departmental team that includes product development, project management, design, research, and quality assurance. The role reports to the Agile Development Manager. Primary Function: Assist with Automating Deployments: Help build and maintain tools and scripts to automate the deployment of applications and infrastructure changes. Support Infrastructure Management: Work with cloud infrastructure technologies, particularly within Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud, under the guidance of senior team members. Execute CI/CD Pipelines: Support the maintenance and execution of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions. Monitor Systems: Help maintain and monitor our systems using logging and monitoring solutions to ensure they are running effectively. Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues in our development, testing, and production environments. Work with Information Security for patch management and security vulnerability management efforts on a regular basis. Contribute to Documentation: Help maintain documentation for our operational processes and tools. Required Skills/Abilities/Profile: Foundational Cloud Experience: Some experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud. Automation Fundamentals: Familiarity with or experience in using automation or configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible) is a plus. Scripting Skills: Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby. CI/CD Basics: Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery concepts and experience with build tools like Jenkins is a plus. Container Familiarity: Knowledge of or experience with distributed application containers like Docker. Problem-Solving Aptitude: A strong desire to automate tasks and a knack for identifying and solving technical problems. Eagerness to Learn: A strong interest in growing your DevOps skills and learning new technologies. Bonus Skills: Experience with infrastructure as code tools like CloudFormation or Terraform. Familiarity with Kubernetes. Agile Exposure: Experience working in an Agile development environment. Exposure to monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, SumoLogic). Understanding of application deployment patterns. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of working on a computer of up to 8 hours per day. WHY AQUENT? WHAT WE OFFER ...
