Decor Technical Designer

As a Décor Technical Designer, you will bridge the gap between digital artwork and final products, focusing on color development, prototyping, and technical documentation to enhance the aesthetics and quality of flooring products. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with our design team and global vendors to develop on-trend colorways for new hard surface flooring products Color-match and create samples and color standards for designer selection and portfolio updates Actively print and assemble product prototypes and samples Utilize industrial equipment, including a heat press and cutters, to construct prototypes by assembling materials like the core, backing, and wear layer to approved standards Participate in design sessions and respond positively to development critiques, adjusting samples appropriately Maintain detailed references and records of all samples, requests, timelines, and product specifications Complete projects accurately, consistently, and on time while adhering to strict quality standards Deliver accurate and on-time samples and prototypes to internal and external partners Contribute to overall trend stories and portfolio direction Skills College degree in a design discipline (Textile Design, Surface Design, Graphic Design, etc.) OR equivalent expert industry experience Expert ability to identify an exact color match and exceptional color sense Background or strong desire to learn surface design software, including AVA color software (some experience is ideal, but training will be provided) Experience with wide format inkjet printing is highly valued Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite or other surface design software Experience in the Resilient hard surface flooring industry is a significant plus An innate eye for color, texture, and pattern A technical understanding of color, color measurement, color mixing, and color-specific language Knowledge of color separations and repeats Highly tech-savvy with excellent organizational skills Requires good visual acuity, peripheral vision, and excellent color vision Benefits Yearly bonus potential Company Overview Formed in 2001, the Design Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of IDSA.
