Position Purpose and Key Responsibilities As an Authorization Specialist I at blithequark, you will be responsible for supporting the prior authorization request process to ensure all requests are addressed properly and within contractual timelines. Your primary duties will include: Performing data entry to maintain and update authorization requests in our utilization management system Assisting the utilization management team with tracking and documenting authorization requests and referrals according to policies and guidelines Contributing to the authorization review process by documenting necessary medical information, such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis Remaining up-to-date on healthcare, authorization processes, policies, and procedures Receiving and triaging faxes, and sending them to the appropriate teams within our HealthPlan Supporting the intake department to streamline the intake process Entering pertinent claims information from source documents and correcting entries where indicated Maintaining accurate records, files, and documentation Performance Expectations and Metrics As an Authorization Specialist I, you will be expected to: Process a high volume of faxes, with a target of 3,500 to 4,000 faxes per day Respond to faxes within 1-2 hours of receiving, depending on the form Achieve a typing speed of 50-60 WPM, with 10,000 keystrokes per hour Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Have a typing speed of at least 60 WPM, with a score of 60 WPM or higher on our typing test Be punctual and reliable, with a strong work ethic Have open availability, with the ability to work on any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, or holidays Possess a high school diploma, with the possibility of conversion to a full-time role later Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of data entry Preferred Skills and Experience While not required, the following skills and experience are preferred: 3 months to 1 year of data processing or clerical experience Understanding of medical terminology and insurance Retail experience, with a flexible schedule and ability to work in a fast-paced environment What We Offer At blithequark, we offer a competitive compensation package and benefits, including: $16.00 per hour, with opportunities for growth and advancement 401(k) and 401(k) matching Dental, health, life, and vision insurance Flexible scheduling and remote work opportunities Work Environment and Company Culture At blithequark, we pride ourselves on a dynamic and supportive work environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and growth.
